What's different about Heirlooms? According to good ole' Martha, heirloom species are the "antiques" of the vegetable world, and each species has to have been cultivated for at least 50 years, are open-pollinated (natural forces rather than controlled hybrid-pollination), and traditionally the seeds are saved and passed from gardener to gardener... rather than just from the church order form...
