Tour de South - Part 3

Sunday Morning

A much belated final posting of Courtney and Alli's Southern Adventure...The dawn broke with a wild sense of anticipation (ok, we slept in a little and took use of the complimentary breakfast). But by the time checkout rolled around we were packed and ready to head to GRACELAND!
The front of the mansion. When Elvis purchased the house, it was only a little more than $100,000. Now it's the second most visited house in the US next to the White House.
This is the living room when you first walk in the house... and yes there are stained glass peacocks around the doorway.

There's a picture of Elvis at the foot of the stairs. Graceland doesn't let guests upstairs... according to Courtney's wiki-research on the drive home, Nicholas Cage is the only person aside from Elvis's family to have seen the Elvis Bedroom.

There was a room for his parents on the first floor... I think it's important to note the pink wallpaper with purple poodles that decorates the bathroom.

I LOVED this dining room... what's tacky about a giant fogged-mirror table?

And the "Taking Care of Business" room wasn't too bad either. Navy and yellow EVERYTHING... and three TVs

The Billiards Room was upholstered floor to ceiling... sort of gave the illusion of a circus tent

The Jungle Room... complete with floor and ceiling green shag carpet, leopard furniture, and a waterfall.

Courtney and I didn't spring for the upgraded tour that includes an exclusive look a the complete jumpsuit collection, but we did see enough on the basic tour to whet our appetites...

Case in point: The Gold Suit...

And the Raging Tiger jumpsuit...

Priscilla and Elvis's wedding clothes... Courtney read me the wiki-bio of Priscilla Presley and how they met and eventually married. Juicy story!

Courtney and I left Graceland and headed back to Nashville with a lot more respect for Elvis than we had going in. The stop was a pretty neat part of Americana.
