You're so Nashville...

Nashville Annual Community Hymn Sing

Every year the Nashville Scene does an article in one of their editions called "You're so Nashville" with quips like, "You're so Nashville if the weather people call for snow and you go to the grocery only to find that there's no more milk, eggs, or bread" or "You can finally pronounce Demonbreun without thinking about it." Sort of like, "You might be a redneck if..." but with things that are very typically Nashville. Anyhow, I was driving home from school and I heard an ad on the radio for a Hymn Sing. Very southern, right? But a Community Hymn Sing at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center lead by Jars of Clay? Only in Nashville. I call Emily to tell her about it, and she was already aware and thinking about going. It's just "too Nashville" to miss out on.

The Schermerhorn is SO BEAUTIFUL! It's just south of Broadway downtown and the inside is sort of art deco and the chandeliers remind me of tinker bell orbs. Both the Nashville Symphony and the Nashville Choir performed some of my favorite traditional hymns, like Holy, Holy, Holy and the Doxology. It was a throw back to growing up at Mountain View Presbyterian back home. I'm so glad Em and I caught it. After a rough couple days of thesis progress it was the perfect break and totally rejuvenating.
